Action
by: Chae

hey,
i agree with you that 'action' is a very crucial part in entrepreneurhsip. no matter how good your idea is, it doesnt really matter. what matters is how well and fast you can execute it, and make things happen. Just buy sitting on ones genious idea, doesnt not help. Be proactive, and take the opportunity.

Hard Work, Ideas: My One Cent Worth
by: Justin Choo

Yup, what you've said certainly its true, its definitely easier to fight a war on paper, and in the context of entrepreneurship, certainly easier to write business plans than carrying them out. However, ideas and plan are still necessary as "failing to plan would equate to planning to fail". Yet, what is important is to achieve that balance. To plan sufficiently for contingencies, but yet think of ways to carry the plan out and make adjustments along the way. Its just like how the stream meanders according to the terrain.

Hard work. Certainly. After all, you are solely accountable for your own profits and losses, not to mention reap the maximum financial and spiritual rewards from your entrepreneurship quest. A leader who just sits and slacks and looks at his employees as cash cows will ultimately be doomed to failure.

In any case, it was a really good experience to work with you girl. You've brought much expertise, fun, laughter and ideas. See you in Urban Econs class next term!

actions
by: Yvonne LIM

Your journal entry really hits the nail on the head! Yes it seems easy on paper, but when it comes to execution, I think our team knows that there's still a lot to be done. :)

Like what Prof Pam said, 1) ideas are cheap. 2) business plans will change almost other week. And I do agree with what you said. :) Business plans and everything can be written, but they can never really be DONE. It will always change, and it is up to the team to adapt to the improvement and take action. :)

Glad to have u on the team girl.

Value of ideas
by: Marco

I agree with you that an idea by itself is worth very little. But is incredible the value that the same idea can reach when well planned and executed.

Jia you
by: Anonymous

I agreed that entrepreneurs are slaves of their own business. Because we work 24 hours and this is not because of merely for money but for our dreams and passion.

To entrepreneurs, the businesses they crafting are like their child, which they will pour in their love and heart to see the child grow day by day, stronger and bigger.

I believe that you have what it takes and all the best to you and to us =)

Definitely about the action
by: Jik

Yeah, agree with you that it's all about action. Getting things done, knowing everything about the business.

You are someone who definitely knows about being hungry and thirsty (I don't mean that in a bad way ok), and you will go far in life!

All the best!

(Call me bullshit lo...grrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Do entrepreneurs have to work hard?
by: Shawn

You mention in your entry that some people choose to be entrepreneurs because they don’t like working for others. Some people may have the perception that entrepreneurs have it easy as they tend not to have standard office hours and they don’t have a superior to report to etc. However, more often than not, I feel that entrepreneurs are in fact the most hardworking people as they have to look after and worry about every single aspect of their business! This, by the way, is almost something that happens 24/7 if you are running your own business!

I suppose the hard work of an entrepreneur really takes place when one is first starting out on his/her own and working to establish the business. Only when one becomes extremely successful can he or she relax a little and rely on the business to "generate income on its own"!
